Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
Dear Parent/Guardian,
It is a great pleasure to have your child attend North Shore 10th Grade Center. We want your child to be successful and poor attendance affects them negatively. Remember, in order to receive credit in a class, students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered in order to reach promotional standards. No more than 4 days absent each semester. If your child is absent for any reason, you have three days to send us a doctor or parent note.
Any notes from the parent and/or guardian explaining the nature of the absence must be submitted no later than three (3) school days after the student’s absence and must include specific information as to the nature of the absence. The following information in required:
- Name of Student
- Student ID
- Date(s) of Absence(s)
- Specific reason for absence(s)
- Signature of parent/guardian
- Phone number of parent/guardian
- Date
There are times the student might forget or it is difficult to come by the office to turn in the excuse note. Therefore, I am including the email to the attendance office: attendanceNS10@galenaparkisd.com . I am also including my direct email: ygomez@galenaparkisd.com and Mrs. Soto’s email: assoto@galenaparkisd.com.
Parents and guardians, no student can be checked out of school after 2:05 p.m. If you have an appointment for your child, please plan to pick them up before 2:05 p.m. Thank you for your assistance.
In order to receive credit in a class, students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered. Students who are in attendance for fewer than the prescribed number of days set by the law shall not be given credit for the class unless the attendance committee finds that the absence(s) is the result of extenuating circumstances.
At NS10 Grade Center, Attendance Matters! Our campus goal is 96.5%! Every student, everyday matters! We challenge you to have no more than 3 absences and 3 tardies!
